Why Do People Leave $25,000,000,000 unclaimed?
Well, first off, no one person has $25,000,000,000..... this money is the accumulated total belonging to thousands of different people......and is kept by a lot of different government agencies...... some are much more widely known than others.
The average size find is less than $1,000, although there are many in the$3,000 to $9,000 or more range.......We have seen them as much as $1,000,000 or more
Why doesn't the government find these people.....they know where everyone is.....they have the address on their tax returns.....and they know where everyone in the U.S. is......don't they?
There are a number of reasons.....but I don't think they are particularly relevant........the money is there.....the government will make a list of the names and last known addresses of the people available at nominal cost to anyone.....and they rely heavily on finders... people like you to track these people down.....and who charge a finders fee for the trouble...
But, since you have asked, we can only speculate on the reasons.... one of them is economics......so long as the government keeps the money, they can earn interest on it.....the person claiming the refund doesn't get the interest refunded....only the principle......interest on $25,000,000,000 is about $1.5 Billion/year.....which will feed a few bureaucrats for a small period of time (about 30,000 jobs at $50,000 per year).......in a time of criticism of government size, it's easier to cut the staff here and keep the money until someone shows up to claim it
So how do I put these people together with their money and how much do I get paid to do it?
It's relatively easy......just locate the person, tell them you have located money due them, ask them to sign a contract agreeing to pay you something for your trouble and a power of attorney authorizing you to make a claim for them. Then send this to the government and they will release the funds........Then you get paid. It's an easy sale.
How much can I charge?
That's up to you........?small items are usually worth half ($400 on an $800 find).......to one third...on larger amounts (1/3 of $9,000 is $3,000.....40% of $10,000 is $4,000...... fees of 1/3 to 40% don't seem to get much resistance...occasionally we charge 50%...)We have seen fees of $30,000 or more paid!
But isn't it nearly impossible to find people who have moved?
Not at all........much of the time, these people have just moved somewhere else within the same city......on a statistical basis, you will find enough people just calling directory information on the telephone,to make some good money at it.......We routinely see funds due "unknown"entities, that the states cannot find......like the Internal Revenue Service, Chase Manhattan Bank,United States Government, Small Business Administration, sometimes we see unclaimed funds due to the states themselves........a situation so laughable that we wonder why the states bother paying the clerks to catalog an embarassment like this....politics I guess.......but that's the way our government operates
So how much can I really expect to make in a year doing this
That depends on how hard you want to work on it.....the more effort and time you put in the greater results you can expect. We know of people who have made over $100,000 a year finding missing persons.
This is an excellent way to build up experience so you can do the work for lawyers and courts billing $135.00/hr or more once you have a track record of success
If you want to just earn a little extra spending money, say one or two a month.....(at $1,000 per case...work on the larger cases....) that is $24,000 per year in just your spare time....you can do this in the evening when you get home from work..... the best time to catch people at home is at suppertime......... We have been able to find 1 or 2 a day when we put our minds to it. You can of course work on just the larger cases....with even bigger fees.......finds of $100,000 are not unheard of......we have found situations in the $1,000,000 to $4,000,000 range......
So why are you telling me this much for free?........
Well, we are hoping that you will want to make more money than I'm talking about here with far less effort...........and, since nothing in this deal is too good to be true............ I'm hoping you will want to read some of our other publications.. ...and maybe spend some money there... .. to learn of better and easier ways to be successful in this business.. ....but you have to walk before you can run....
